Today I did an image search on Google for “Success”.
What struck me is that many graphics showed up displaying a broad straight road, stats with a strong up-going curve or people jumping in the air for joy and excitement.
I think this may be true for some steps in the process of becoming successful in online business. However in my opinion the “Journey to Success” as a whole resembles more the ride in a roller coaster than a comfortable ride over a straight road.
The journey to success is one with ups and downs. There will be moments when you do feel like jumping in the air for joy but there will also be moments where you feel like falling in a deep hole and that you are tempted to give up.
During the years I have read a lot, attended seminars and spoke on skype with many online marketers. Most of them pretty much tell the same story:
- that they made big (sometimes costly) mistakes
- many made misjudgments in people and opportunities (this happened to me too)
- many at some point were tempted to give up
- although there are marketers that earn a good living from affiliate programs only, the majority of successful online marketers own one or multiple services/products
- although there are free ways to earn money it is also true that it takes money to make money. Most successful marketers invested their first earnings in their business.
- most had challenges: areas to explore that were out of their comfort zone
But also
- that by trial and error they gained valuable insights
- they got help sometimes from unexpected places
- they achieved things they used to think that were hard to achieve
- they found wonderful people that became partners and even close friends
- my personal believe is that all what you give will get back to you tenfold either positive or negative.
What they all have in common is that they have the same mindset:
THAT WHAT DOES NOT KILL ME MAKES ME STRONGER
They all have the mental power to overcome hurdles and to turn something negative in something positive and to look upon things that did not work as a valuable lesson.
As for success, what is it?
Unfortunately most starting marketers measure success only in $$$ and sign ups. When those don’t come fast they feel that either they failed or it is the fault of the program being it a scam and they jump to the next program. I agree there are a lot of scam programs but…you are the one that joined it. I fell for some when I started but instead of grumbling about lost time and funds I educated myself to recognize them better. That little step was one of the crucial ones of becoming successful. There are many little steps that ultimately lead to results that can be measured in money: learning new skills, setting up a business plan, defining short term and long term goals, find reliable business partners and associates, building a trustworthy online presence, learn time management, learn budgeting and many things more. Obviously that takes time and hard work. Having a dream and passion is the fuel that helps to stay focused and overcome hurdles.
Conclusion:
Often the very first question in articles and publications is: what must a newbie do to get started. I think a better question would be: should you start an online business? Do you have what it takes to take the ride on the success roller coaster? Do you have the patience and the time needed to build your business? If you need money to pay some bills fast it is probably better to search for an extra off line job.

Webmiep’s Global Internet Business Adventure
I have been active with online marketing in Holland for some years. In October 2010 I decided to cross the border and start online business in on a global level.
This was to put it mildly, confusing at the least. The way of advertising is a lot different than in the Netherlands.
If I would put some advertising lines on a site in Holland, people would laugh at me and don’t take me serious. The kind of lines I mean are ones “make money in your sleep, make 10K a month doing nothing, retire in 3 weeks”.
So I was pretty unsure in the beginning in deciding what to join and what not to join, how to advertise and where. So I joined some and than I started reading on networks like APSense and Faceplate.
I also started to contribute comments and articles myself. A lot of the articles there and on many other social networks where no more than exact copies provided by the programs.
But there were some persons who posted comments and articles that were different and did really stand out. These persons wrote unique content with valuable information and content without pushing to join for this and that.
There were also similar minded people who connected with me who found me through my comments and postings. They gave me good advice on several issues. The result was that I joined several programs they either owned or had joined too.
Yesterday I found this network too because one of my internet friends on another network recommended it. I love APSense so far and will recommend to my own downline and contacts too and upgrade as soon as funds allow me to.
The main thing I have learned the past 3 months that you need to be very skeptical and picky about joining something especially if you want to build yourself a good name. There is a lot of malpractice and scam on the net.
Besides that, promoting programs that are bound to fail is a waste of time and money.
The other thing is that you need friends you can trust and provide good information. You can learn from them a lot. This is the beginning in profiling yourself as a leader too. Become a leader people and people will follow you. Remember, people follow people, not programs.
It takes time and effort to build valuable connections and relationships. And like in a marriage you need to nurture them. But in the end you will be rewarded, getting sign ups and referrals will get more easy and of course your earnings get better too.

Meanwhile I have made many great friends and valuable connections. Did I make money? Yes I made some but no truck loads yet. The money I earned I invested in my business. I bought quit a few I bought lifetime upgrades. For some of them I broke even and even earned from, some others still cost me money. I became co-owner of another network and was able to start 2 new businesses, my traffic exchange surf-bar-traffic and recently a graphic design service Webmiep Graphics.

After investing 2 years I parted from a business partner and found new ones and things really start moving forward now. Working on exciting new projects now. Sorry, can’t tell yet

I have been busy. I launched my own Mug themed downline builder service and a similar T-shirt themed downline builder for Dutch programs. Verschillen in marketing nationaal en internationaal
Zoals je misschien weet ben ik ook internationaal erg actief. Toen ik begon was een van de eerste dingen die mij opviel dat veel mensen daar lid zijn van één of meerdere traffic exchanges. De meerderheid van de Engelstalige traffic exchanges zijn Manual traffic exchanges. Manual betekent handmatig. Mensen moet als de timer is afgelopen op een plaatje klikken om de volgende site te zien.
Dat betekent dat de sites + de eventuele bannerads en tekstads in de surfbar ook echt worden gezien. Al is dat dan slechts voor een korte tijdspanne tussen de 10-30 seconden. Dat is echter voldoende voor iemand om te zien of iets voor hem/haar interessant is.
Maar in een dergelijke korte tijdspanne heeft niemand de tijd om een complete website of pagina’s met veel tekst te lezen. De meeste mensen stoppen niet met surfen om dat te doen omdat ze op dat moment gefocused zijn op het verdienen van credits teneinde zelf te kunnen adverteren. Om die reden maken de meeste mensen gebruik van een splash page (pagina met een grote banner die opent in een nieuw venster) al dan niet gecombineerd met een formulier om info aan te vragen.
En dit systeem werkt goed. Men bekijkt na het surfen de sites nader die de interesse hebben gewekt.
Op enkele uitzonderingen na worden op internationale exchanges de banner en tekstadvertenties alleen op de exchange vertoond. Zelf vind ik daarmee het bereik van de advertenties te beperkt. Gelukkig ben ik in de omstandigheid om de advertenties van mijn leden ook buiten mijn 2 traffic exchanges te vertonen.
Hoe zit het dan met autosurfs? Procentueel zijn er meer autosurfs in Nederland dan Manual Exchanges. Persoonlijk vind ik autosurfs weinig effectief voor het genereren van leads en sales. Men kan een autosurf laten draaien en zelf ondertussen TV gaan kijken. De meeste mensen doen dat ook. Er is een klein percentage dat ook werkelijk kijkt naar sites in een autosurf, heeft een autosurf duizenden actieve leden dan zijn daar ook wel clickthroughs te behalen.
Vwb GPT en klikspellen heb ik zelf nog weinig ervaring maar ik denk dat er meer geld te verdienen valt met het werven van nieuwe leden, invullen van enquettes, ingaan op aanbiedingen, enz. dan met de klikspellen zelf waar je 0,0001 cent verdient per click. Vaak wordt de credit verdiend per klik en de geladen site kan meteen worden gesloten. Met uitzondering van de links met een timer.
Volgens mijn mening is er geen beste manier om een website te promoten. Ik denk dat een combinatie van methodes het beste werkt. Dat is althans mijn ervaring op internationale sites. Ik heb zelf goede ervaringen door actief te zijn op sociale netwerken zoals Facebook, LinkedIn en APSense. Met actief zijn bedoel ik dan niet het posten van alleen maar links. Op sociale netwerken kun je artikel marketing combineren met het leggen van contacten met potentiële zakenpartners en klanten. Je kunt jezelf profileren als een expert in een bepaalde niche door zelf artikelen te schrijven, commentaar te geven en anderen waar mogelijk te helpen met jouw kennis en expertise.
Elk netwerk heeft wel een profiel. Mensen gaan je herkennen en vertrouwen. Heb je dit punt bereikt dan kan het gebruik van je profielfoto op banners en splash graphics conversieverhogend werken. Zowel in exchanges als credit mailers.
Het consequent bijhouden van een blog verbonden aan je zakelijke website is een uitstekend middel om je PageRank te verbeteren. Is je content interessant genoeg om te delen en heb je share buttons op je site dan vergroot dat weer je online presence op sociale media hetgeen op zich ook een gunstige uitwerking heeft op je pagerank.
Facebook is nummer 1 maar voor veel gebruikers ondoorzichtig; er zijn zoveel apps en mogelijkheden dat men door de bomen het bos niet meer ziet. Heb je het eindelijk uitgevogeld dan verandert er weer van alles en ben je weer verdwaald in het Facebook doolhof. Toen ik de kans kreeg om zelfstandig een Nederlandstalige APsense niche te beheren, heb ik die met beide handen aan gegrepen. Alle essentiële dingen zowel voor plezier als zaken zijn aanwezig, de navigatie is eenvoudig.
Kortom er zijn vele manieren. Weet je die goed te combineren en te gebruiken dan versterken ze elkaar.

Are your articles getting the attention they deserve?
First of all you must ask yourself: do they deserve attention? The answer is no when it is a copy/paste/re-spun article that has been published by thousands of others.
However there are many people here on i.e.
APSense that are publishing wel written unique articles that get little attention. There can be various reasons for that.
Most likely one is that you do not have many contacts yet. When you publish an article (or revpage or other) is shows up in the livefeed but the only ones that can see that are your contacts. It takes long the build a large audience, especially when you are a free member since you can only invite a few daily. As I wrote in other articles that is where the value of upgrading in APSense lies: you can grow your contacts faster and you earn credits faster allowing you to expose your content potentially to all APSense members.
An other reason may be what your article is about. The audience on APSense are mainly people that are interested in getting traffic, getting sales and internet marketing in general.
So if you write a great article about the pleasure of making a tour in a classic automobile it is unlikely you get many views or response. However there are ways to improve this. You can use the share and branding options on APSense to share your content. I.e. you can share such articles in social media groups that might have an interest in the subject of your article. If there is no group on APSense with a reasonable number of members try to find one on other networks.
If you make the effort of finding/creating a nice graphic to attach to your article you can use sites like Pinterest en PinOps to draw more readers to your article. Not only there but also on your APSense brand page if you have one. Sharing your brandpage in other networks and network groups is the most easy way to reach a larger audience. However reposting in specific interest groups is even better.
Regardless if your articles are getting much attention here on APSense, posting them here and sharing them is good to get organic traffic to your offers and your main site if you include a link to your business in your article. And of course make sure you optimize your profile and business ABC.
For the reason to build traffic for my Dutch Shop-top1000 shopping site I do post or share some Dutch articles here on APSense although I know that only few can read them here. Lol and who knows if APSense is not invaded by the Dutch in future.
Regardless if you are getting much response here on APSense, writing quality articles have long lasting results for building traffic and an audience as opposed to credit campaigns. Provided you don’t forget to re-share them regularly with different intros and if you change them a bit from time to time (ad new insights and info).
You need to have some patience too. Millions of good quality articles are posted daily especially in English so it will take a bit before your efforts get noted.

As I have written in other articles, it all starts with branding yourself by contributing in a positive way. If you have no business of your own find a legitimate opportunity, preferable a niche you have affinity with and where you know something about. Write and publish your own content about your niche and related niches. Share your own content but also content from other members to build connections. Be selective in what you share and who you endorse because these actions reflect on your profile. A well set up profile will help you get sales and valuable connections. In my opinion the best way to earn from APSense is indirectly by promoting your own business. Are there good other ways to earn from APSense?
However above question I read all the time in APSense questions relates to “How to earn money from the APSense Affiliate Program”. Would you like to know the answer to that?
The fact is that it is not simple to build an income from APSense alone simply because APSense has 180K members already and many are promoting APSense. Yet it is a good idea to promote APSense because it get more people in your direct network and as a free member you can earn an upgrade for a month if you refer 5. If you are lucky some of them will upgrade which would allow you to pay for your own upgrade at APSense. What is the best way to get referrals in APSense?
To benefit from APSense (This article also applies for networks) you need to gain insight in how APSense works and how all the APSense add-ons work. I have been on many networks and I have not found any other yet the offers so much for free and where an upgrade offers so much money for your buck. From a business point of view I think that sometimes Wincer is giving away a bit too much for free.
About Wincer, I have seen very few site social site owners as driven and passionate to help the membership as Wincer. And so open for suggestions.
No matter how good a site is, there is always room for improvement. Since I chat with Wincer often I know he acknowledges that; he is always exploring new things and technologies and talking with other people to get feedback and opinions. Despite his busy schedule he finds the time to be active on APSense as a member.
So instead of criticizing APSense and demanding to explain how you can make money from APSense I suggest you make an effort to do something yourself to improve APSense and at the same time make an effort to use the tools available to you. People who do that, are in my opinion, qualified to post feedback or suggestions for improvement. People that are lazy and want success and cash handed out to them on a golden plate, are not.

Isn’t it about time you start tracking your results?
Like many others I also started out as a newbie and did what most newbies do, join dozens of programs. Somewhere along the road I also became a TE owner. To promote my TE Surf-Bar-Traffic I joined hundreds of TEs. Needles to say I can’t possibly surf them all. But I tried to surf as many as possible to build membership. In between promoting other business I own and some business opportunities in which I see great potential to build a recurring income.
I also consider being active on social business sites extremely important. Interacting and writing content. All this pretty much consumed all my time. Since I thought it would be difficult to do, I kept postponing tracking results.
I guess you know that tracking results is important, every successful marketer tells you so. Bu fine tuning your marketing you will get more sign ups, build your list faster and get more sales. You will use your time in a more productive way because you can eliminate the stuff that does not convert.
But recently I got to the point that I needed to make some choices on what and where to promote. So I dug into the matter and discovered affiliate toolbox. And fell in love with it. The program is very user friendly even for technically challenged people like me. I can track result from sites and banners without difficulty. Ans set up rotators for them as well. Great plus is that the banner rotators (in any size) work in LMFTE based sites.
So now I am saving a lot of time by promoting only what works. I feel pretty stupid I did not explore this program much sooner as I did. I would have saved a lot of time.
